San Juan Contract Services was asked to provide foundation solar screws installation also known as helical screw piles for a new solar field in San Luis, CO. We quoted the project and were under contract to do that portion of the job. Another contractor was going to provide refusal rock and ground drilling services.
We informed the general contractor that we could not only do the solar screw installation but also the rock drilling and refusal work. We priced and were awarded the entire job.
The general contractor had an aggressive schedule and had the racking assembly crew start two days after us which put a lot of pressure on us to have enough for them to start on.
We were able to give them an entire section and stayed ahead of them to the finish. We averaged 60-70 screws per day. Besides delivering the job with an aggressive schedule we did 98% with out needing drilling equipment. This saved the contractor expense as well as time.
